A very Happy St Patrick's Day to you all. It has been 80 years since Ireland held its first St Patrick's Day parade in Dublin. The Classical Shop has Irish inspired music to help your celebrations go with a swing such as the traditional folk music on the Gift of Music label Folk Music of Ireland or on the CORO label Acoustic Ireland. The Music and Media label has an album which was launched on 17 March 2009 and contains arrangement of traditional works. If your musical preferences lean towards more classical fare, then perhaps you would enjoy works by composers who were influenced by Ireland itself, such as Harty's Irish Symphony or Stanford's Irish Symphony & Rhapsody - a selection can be seen here

Today in 1875 the premiere of George Bizet's opera Carmen took place at tje Opéra-Comique in Paris. Rather disappointly for Bizet, it was at the time, not considered to be a huge sucess. Just three months later Bizet dies of a heart attack and did see his work become one of the world's bestloved operas.
The Classical Shop has several recordings of this fine opera, so why not have a look at the selection we have available?
