Today is the 300th anniversary of the first performance of Handel’s opera Rinaldo. It was the first Italian language opera written specifically for the London stage and it opened at the Queens Theatre in London’s Haymarket in 1711.  The work was loved by the general public and went on to become Handel’s most frequently performed musical drama during his lifetime.

If you do not own a copy of this work but would like to, then visit the Classical Shop where we have a recording of this on the Naxos label.
